On Thursday 15th December 2022, the Erasmus+ Cities Go Climate Neutral project held its online kick-off meeting via Zoom. The project aims to promote sustainable development and combat climate change through the implementation of local strategies for climate-neutral cities. The meeting was organized by MIEMA (Malta Intelligent Energy Management Agency) and brought together the project partners from Italy, Greece, and Croatia.
The meeting started with the registration of the participants and an introduction by MIEMA. Then, each project partner presented their institution and their contribution to the project. The presentations included relevant experiences and involved staff. This session helped the partners to get to know each other and understand their roles in the project.
The following session was dedicated to the presentation of the CCN (Climate Neutral Cities) project by MIEMA. The project’s general overview, main objectives, and activities were presented, followed by a discussion. This session was essential to ensure that all partners had a clear understanding of the project’s scope and objectives.
The meeting then moved to the presentation of the work packages. Each work package leader introduced their work package, its activities, and timelines. The following work packages were presented:
WP2 – Roadmap for Designing Local Strategies for Climate Neutral Cities, presented by Fondazione Comunitaria di Agrigento e Trapani.
WP3 – Transition to Climate Neutral Cities Training Course, presented by ORGANIZATION EARTH.
WP4 – Success Stories of initiatives for the Transition to climate neutrality in cities, presented by E-TRIKALA.
WP5 – Transition to Climate Neutral Cities Online Hub, presented by KMOP POLICY CENTER.
WP6 – Dissemination and Exploitation, presented by AGRRA – Agencija za ruralni razvoj Zadarske županije.
The presentations of the work packages allowed the partners to have a detailed understanding of the project’s implementation and the specific tasks assigned to each partner.
The meeting continued with a session on administrative, financial, and management aspects of the project, presented by MIEMA. This session covered the composition and establishment of the Steering Committee and Quality Assurance Board, management tools, partnership agreement, work programme, budget, and reporting. This session was important to ensure that the project was managed efficiently and effectively.
The meeting concluded with a discussion and Q&A session, where the partners had the opportunity to ask questions and clarify any doubts. The meeting was successful in bringing together the project partners and providing a clear understanding of the project’s objectives, implementation, and management. The partners left the meeting with a renewed commitment to work together towards achieving the project’s objectives.
The next activity planned for the project is the partners’ meeting in Malta. This meeting will provide an opportunity for the partners to further discuss the project’s implementation and management and strengthen their collaboration towards achieving the project’s objectives. The Erasmus+ Cities Go Climate Neutral project is a promising initiative that aims to promote sustainable development and combat climate change, and this kick-off meeting was a promising start to achieving these objectives.
