The Erasmus+ program has launched a new initiative called “Cities Go Climate Neutral” aimed at supporting cities to become more sustainable and climate-friendly. The program is a joint effort by several European organizations, including MIEMA and Fondazione Comunitaria di Agrigento e Trapani.
The kick-off meeting took place on 31st January 2023, in Valletta, Malta. The meeting was held at the Valletta Design Cluster. The event started with participant registration, followed by a welcome address and general updates from MIEMA. The main agenda item for the day was Work Package 2 (WP2) – Roadmap for Designing Local Strategies for Climate Neutral Cities. Fondazione Comunitaria di Agrigento e Trapani gave an overview of the work package and its activities.
The meeting then moved on to the presentation of the WP2 local scenario by each partner, which encompassed a discussion of the pilot testing workshop. This was followed by a brainstorming session on internal action plans and next steps for WP2. In addition to WP2, updates on other work packages were also provided, as required.
One of the crucial objectives of the Erasmus+ program is to disseminate and exploit the results of the project. Administrative, financial, and management updates were given by MIEMA and Fondazione Comunitaria di Agrigento e Trapani, respectively.

The initiative brings together different European organizations to design strategies and action plans that can lead to climate neutrality in cities. The event was an exciting and informative event for all participants, and it will set the tone for the rest of the project.
